Salman Khan's remake of the popular Telugu film 'Kick' is a go. Deepika Padukone has signed on to play the female lead and the film will be directed by A R Murugadoss of 'Ghajini' fame.
Southern junta will be a bit disappointed because hottie Ileana will not reprise her role in the Hindi remake of 'Kick'. The original film had Ravi Teja in the lead role. The Hindi remake will be produced by Bollywood supremo Sajid Nadiawala and will be filmed in 2010, with a release date slated for January 2011. Abhijat Joshi, the co-writer of Munnabhai flicks has been hired to pen the script of 'Kick'. Was Deepika Padukone a good choice for the film?
'Kick', which released earlier this year was a madcap comedy which revolved around a guy (Teja) who who loves challenges and cannot live without getting a "kick" out of doing things. Every morning before drinking milk he takes a whiff of whiskey to get a kick out of it. He joins a job and leaves it the next day just for kicks. He romances a woman and leaves her for the same reason. There is a love triangle, a cop and a mysterious thief. Yes, this is certainly a mass Sallu entertainer.
To prepare for the role, Salman is supposed to undergo martial arts training and also learn kickboxing. Like 'Wanted', this film also will have copious amounts of the trademark Salman Khan-cheese. Tollywood remakes have been he lifeline of Bollywood for a while now, Priyadarshan has been doling out remakes and rehashes year-after-year. Last year 'Ghajini' became the biggest Bollywood film of all time, and even 'Wanted' was a huge hit.
