Here are some of the latest news update on Dabangg 2 which is releasing in 6 days (21st December, 2012) from now on. Dabangg 2 Official Run Time after Censor Certificate is2 hrs 9 mins. Its advance booking has started at selected cinemas. So, book your ticket now. Pre-booking (mostly corporate booking) of Dabangg 2 is huge with around 25000 tickets are already sold. 

As per Distributor estimate Dabangg 2 is touted to be the biggest release ever in Bollywood surpassing Ek Tha Tiger. Both Talaash and Khiladi 786 screens are going to be reduced. Dabangg 2 is going to get around 85-90% significant screens all India. K786, Talaash and rest films have to settle with 10-15% significant screens and choose from non-performing screens. 

Dabangg 2 is first film of Bollywood which will have a humongous screen space in Tamil Nadu and a good number increase from ETT. Though it is too early as screens are adding up still expect a minimum of 3500 screens all India for D2.

'Dabangg 2' Official Preview Synopsis

Dabangg 2 is a continuation of the amazing exploits of Chulbul ‘Robin Hood’ Pandey played by Salman Khan.
The notable facets of the character include his nonchalance, his wry sense of humor and his tongue-in-cheek dialogues.

In the first film, Chulbul was pitted against Chedi Singh a local goon. And Chedi Singh had killed Chulbul’s mother Naina Devi (Dimple Kapadia).

Thus his family now consists of his stepfather Prajapati Pandey (Vinod Khanna), his younger half-brother, Makhanchan “Makkhi” Pandey (Arbaaz Khan), Makkhi’s wife Nirmala (Mahi Gill). And his wife Rajjo (Sonakshi Sinha).

This film begins with Chulbul moving on from being a local inspector in a small town Laalganj to becoming an Inspector-in-charge of Bajariya Thana, a police station in Kanpur, the largest and most populous city in Uttar Pradesh.

After arriving in Kanpur, Chulbul immediately gets into action thus bringing him in conflict with Baccha Bhaiyya (Prakash Raj). Baccha Bhaiyya is a criminal turned politician. Baccha Bhaiyya is aided by his two brothers, the cool and collected Chunni (Nikitin Dheer) the archetypal brawn in the trio. And Gainda (Deepak Dobriyal) the impulsive, hotheaded younger brother.

On numerous occasions Chulbul and Baccha Bhaiyya end up at loggerheads. But Baccha Bhaiyya’s strong desire to go legit and the keen advice from the senior political leader Awadh Narayan Singh (Yuggal Kishore) prevent him from taking on Chulbul.

Chulbul continues to be aided by his trustworthy band of constables from Laalganj. And also makes new associates in Kanpur. Chulbul also receives the whole-hearted support of SP Mathur (Manoj Pahwa).

If in the earlier film we witnessed Chulbul’s strained relationship with his stepfather Prajapati. In this film, we see Prajapati emerge as the true patriarch of the Pandey family. We witness Chulbul and Prajapati’s father-son bond grow and deepen through the film.

We also get to see the romantic Chulbul woo his new bride Rajjo. Rajjo now the lady of the house, exercises her rights and matches Chulbul in his wayward ways.

In a happy ending, Rajjo gives birth to Junior Pandey.

If Dabangg marked the return of action films, Dabangg 2 takes it to a higher level with some of the coolest action sequences ever conceived. The soundtrack of the film contains five original songs each with a promise of being a chartbuster like its predecessors. All in all, Dabangg 2 promises to be a full on entertainer, Chulbul Pandey and his sunglasses et al.

Salman Khan backs Ajay Devgn's 'Son of Sardaar'

 Sallu tweets in open support of buddy Ajay's Diwali release scheduled to coincide with rival Shah Rukh Khan's 'Jab Tak Hain Jaan'. As Diwali approaches, the release date for two of the biggest films of this year is inching closer. And the unfortunate demise of legendary director Yash Chopra before the release of his last directorial makes the situation all the more intersting.

 “Pathan ke yaar se panga mat lena… sorry yaar, Diwali bekar without son of Sardar.” While the box office collision is being viewed as the clash of titans SRK and Ajay Devgn the latter has now found support in another superstar and SRK’s archrival Salman Khan.

Salman incidentally has also done the Po Po track for Ajay’s film. A couple of days back Sallu openly took a dig at SRK through his micro blogging site.

Our source says, “The tweet is clearly a dig at SRK. Salman is referring to himself as the Pathan and Ajay is his friend. He is obviously promoting Ajay’s Diwali blockbuster ahead of Yash Chopra’s romantic film which incidentally stars his nemesis SRK.”

The source adds, “While one thought that Salman would not side with anyone given his equation with the film’s leading lady Katrina Kaif and his newfound equation with the YRF banner, Sallu being Sallu has gone ahead and expressed support for his friend Ajay in this much talked about clash.” The situation only seems to get more interesting by the day!

Salman Khan is on dream run after strings of blockbusters. “Ek Tha Tiger” is still running in cinemas and smashing records one after another. But Salman’s fans are already anticipating star’s next film Dabangg 2.

At 10.0 TVR, the movie emerges as the biggest television premiere since 3 Idiots, ahead of Dabangg & Singham

After creating a history on box office as the highest grosser, Salman Khan and Kareena Kapoor-starrer Bodyguard has shattered all TRP records on television. The world television premier of Bodyguard on STAR Gold has become the biggest television premiere since 3 Idiots but ahead of Dabangg & Singham. It has recorded 10.0 TVR for its premier on 12th November, 2011. The blockbuster helped the channel garner an all time high of 226 GRPs according to TAM data for week 46.

For the record, 3 Idiots’ premier on Sony on 25th July, 2010 had garnered 10.9 TVR on TAM people meters while Singham’s premier on Star Gold on 10th September, 2011 had garnered 8.7 TVR.
While only around 30mn fans have the watched the movie in theatres so far, an astounding 124 million viewers tuned in to see the movie on November 12 on Star GOLD making Bodyguard one of the biggest and the most successful premieres on TV.

MUMBAI: In a really unique experience Salman Khan’s Bodyguard is currently trending in India on Twitter, at the time when Shah Rukh Khan’s Ra.One has just released. The power of fans that Salman Khan holds on social media is unparalleled. One Twitter user with handle @Hishh said, “So despite of al d marketin revolutions, Bhai shows who is d real daddy. #RaOne couldnt reach upto #BodyGuard first day collection is d news”.

This primarily happened because of the comparison for the opening day collection of both the movies. The Times of India reported opening day Ra.One collection of Rs. 22 crores in India with headline “RA.One snatches Day one honours”, but this is completely untrue, and it has already led to a complete chaos and frenzy within the industry circles as the net collection of Shah Rukh Khan’s Ra.One were Rs. 14.7 Crores.

Salman in Eid, Christmas 2012

Salman Khan will have two releases in 2012. One at Eid [EK THA TIGER] and the other at Christmas [DABANGG 2]. Read on…

Ever since Arbaaz Khan tweeted on Monday morning that DABANGG 2 will start filming in March 2012 and will be released in Christmas 2012, people within and outside the industry seem to be discussing whether Christmas 2012 will witness the clash of the two mighty Khans -- Aamir [DHOOM 3] and Salman [DABANGG 2]. But the fact is DHOOM 3 has been shifted to 2013. 

Arbaaz was forthcoming when this writer spoke to him, "All I know is that Bhai [Salman Khan] has told me to start filming DABANGG 2 by March 2012, so that we can release the film by Christmas next year. I have locked the script. I am currently having music sittings with Sajid-Wajid. I am raring to go ahead. I can state with surety that DABANGG 2 is confirmed for Christmas 2012." 

Just last week, Aamir had requested Salman to move the date of EK THAT TIGER from June to Eid. Now Aamir seems to have vacated Christmas for Salman. Dosti ho to aisi!

Ek Tha Tiger – Salman Khan’s 2012 EID Release

Yash Raj Films’ romantic thriller, Ek tha Tiger, which was scheduled for a 1^st June release will now release in theatres worldwide on EID 2012.

Since Aamir Khan wanted to release his next film, directed by Reema Kagti, on 1^st June, he requested Salman Khan & Aditya Chopra to shift Ek tha Tiger to accommodate this release. Given the close relationship and mutual respect they share for one another, both Adi and Salman were happy to oblige and shift the release to Eid.

Directed by Kabir Khan and Produced by Aditya Chopra, the film stars Salman Khan & Katrina Kaif in the lead roles.

The film is based on a story by Aditya Chopra and the Screenplay & Dialogues have been written by Kabir Khan and Neelesh Misra. Aseem Mishra, who has worked with Kabir on New York, is the DOP. The music will be scored by Suhail Sen.

The film is currently shooting in Dublin from where it moves on to Turkey for its next schedule.

One 'beast', 13 beauties in 'Bigg Boss-5' house

It's almost a "Bachna ae haseeno" moment in the " Bigg Boss" house this season. Thirteen beauties from different walks of life entered the fifth edition of the controversial reality show, with Bollywood villain Shakti Kapoor in tow Sunday night.

What will add "double dhamaal" is hero Salman Khan and "khalnayak" Sanjay Dutt's chemistry as the hosts. The women contestants are an eclectic mix - controversial models, actresses, a wrestler, as well as a proud transgender. The participants include - model Shraddha Sharma, who grabbed headlines for her relationship with former "Bigg Boss" contestant Raja Chaudhary; former Miss Afghanistan Vida Samadzai, who was banned in the country for wearing a bikini; Nihita Biswas, wife of "Bikini Killer" Charles Sobhraj and actress-singer Raageshwari, who has bounced back to arc lights after battling serious health problems. Other contestants include actresses VJ Pooja Missra, Pooja Bedi, Juhi Parmar, model-actress and winner of Miss India International 2003 Shonali Nagrani, popular host Mandeep Bevli, and Rajasthani folk dancer Gulabo Sapera. Actress Mahek Chahal, who is said to be a close friend of Salman, has also joined the list. If last year The Great Khali added muscle power to the show, this year, woman wrestler Sonika Kaliraman will be seen throwing her weight around.

This is her second reality show after "Khatron Ke Khiladi", and she is now six months pregnant. Transgender activist Laxmi Narayan Tripathi is a highlight on the show. In the past seasons, cross dressers like Bobby Darling, designer Rohit Verma and Pakistani cross-designer Begum Nawazish Ali have made an appearance. But Tripathi, who is one of the country's most visible LGBT community representative, hopes to make a difference in the mindsets of the general public about people of her kind. The previous seasons saw a healthy balance between male and female participants. But this season, it's different. There's plenty of bird watching opportunity for the men, but for the female viewers, there's no eyecandy. The only male - Shakti Kapoor, is over 50. In 2005, he was stuck in controversy after a news channel aired tapes shot with hidden camera showing the actor seeking sexual favours from a journalist disguised as a Bollywood aspirant.

The tapes also had Kapoor speaking about the casting couch in Bollywood and naming several big actresses, directors and producers. It would be interesting to see if Shakti has some revelations to make on the show. Isolated in one compact house situated in Karjat, with no connectivity and communication with the outside world, and under 24X7 surveillance, one expects to see a lot of friction and backbiting - which already began as soon as five lady contestants walked into the "Bigg Boss 5" house in the premiere episode. Also with two star hosts - Salman and Sanjay, who are ready to give contestants a "double vaat", the show will hopefully live up to its promise of being "bigger, bolder and louder".

'Sher Khan' on hold

The much-talked-about project of Sohail Khan, SHER KHAN, has been put on hold for the time being. Starring Salman Khan in the lead, the film, to be filmed in 3D, was expected to release in Eid 2012. But the project has been put on hold for the time being. Instead, Salman and Sohail are expected to start another film, a horror-comedy, which has the brothers all charged up.

This new film, which is not titled yet, will now release in Eid 2012. Await official announcement!

Pritam chooses Dhoom 3 over Ek Tha Tiger

Music director Pritam Chakraborty was supposed to compose the music for Dhoom 3and Ek Tha Tiger, both YRF films. But since the music of both the films needed to be composed simultaneously, it was difficult for Pritam to work on both the projects at the same time. 

Besides, Pritam has a line up of other movies like Players, Tezz, Barfee, Race 2, Once Upon A Time In Mumbaai 2 and Jannat 2, so it was difficult for him to compose bothDhoom 3 and Ek Tha Tiger at the same time. Hence, he requested producer Aditya Chopra to excuse him from one of the films. 

Since Pritam has worked on the Dhoom franchise from the beginning, Aditya Chopra told him to work on Dhoom 3 and leaveEk Tha Tiger. Pritam also agreed with Aditya's decision. 

YRF has now roped in music director Sohail Sen to compose the music of Ek Tha Tiger. Sohail Sen was the music director of YRF's recent release Mere Brother Ki Dulhan. Aditya Chopra was really impressed with his work and asked him to compose the music of Ek Tha Tiger and he gladly agreed to do so. 

There is no animosity between Pritam and Sohail. In fact Pritam was really happy that Sohail has been chosen to compose the music of Ek Tha Tiger. Pritam said, "I really like Sohail's music and wish him all the best with Ek Tha Tiger."

Salman's plate full for next two years

Putting all rumours to rest, it has now been confirmed by Salman himself that after Ek Tha Tiger, the only new films that he would be doing are Dabangg 2, Sher Khan and Kick. While the first two are home productions and would be made by brothers Arbaaz Khan and Sohail Khan,Kick would be with Sajid Nadiadwala who is a close friend.

"With so much happening in quick succession, it is bound to keep him overtly occupied. Also don't forget that at least two out of these four films would require extensive travel. While Ek Tha Tiger is being shot across four-five countries in different parts of the world, Kick would be shot entirely in South Korea. Where is the time for him to accommodate any other film in the interim", a close associate questions. 

Salman has denied picking up other new film in the interim since his plate is already full for next two years at the least with commitments made to aforementioned filmmakers. This pretty much makes one wonder when he would do his next with David Dhawan, Anees Bazmee and Sooraj Barjatya - three filmmakers who were supposed to be looking at Salman green lighting their next projects. 

"Salman wants to do Partner 2 with Dhawan but they are struggling to get the right script. As for Bazmee, he has to come up with something interesting for No Entry Mein Entry. Sooraj's next with Salman is more of hearsay as nothing concrete is being developed yet", a source adds. 

With Salman talking about these films at the least, these filmmakers can still look at this positively and hope that at least in 2013 there would be something in store for them. Now whether it would be David Dhawan, Anees Bazmee or Sooraj Barjatya, who would win the race is something that only time would tell.

Salman Khan is ahead of me: Aamir Khan

In Bollywood, every actor tries his best to reach the top of the ladder and become number one, but according to Aamir Khan, who himself is credited with blockbuster hits like " Ghajini" and "3 Idiots",Salman Khan is presently the number one box office star.
"According to me Salman is ahead of me. In the manner in which his film 'Bodyguard' has got an opening, it has broken all records and today according to me, if there is anyone who is the number one box office star, then that is Salman," said Aamir. "He has proved with this film that he is ahead of all of us. I am very happy that his film is doing well. My good wishes are with him," Aamir told reporters here at the music launch of the film "Saheb, Biwi Aur Gangster"," he added.

"Few days back I even had a chat with him on phone because he is in America. I'm glad that his health is also much better now. Infact I was the one who gave him the good news of the massive opening box collections of 'Bodyguard'," said Amir. "I had texted his sister Alvira and I had told her that when Salman comes out of his surgery then show him my text first. I wanted to be the first one to give him this great news," he added. When asked from the 46-year-old actor that since he shares such a great camaraderie with Salman, would he like to work with him again in a film, Aamir responded with a yes. "I would love to work with Salman. We have a great tuning so if we work together, it will be great fun. But till the time we don't get a good script, a script that excites both of us, we can't work together," said Aamir, who has shared screen space with Salman in the past in the film " Andaz Apna Apna".

‘Bodyguard’ comes with Rs 22-crore marketing budget

MUMBAI: The makers of Bodyguard are sparing no expense to ensure a hat-trick of Salman Khan hits. The co-producer, Reliance Entertainment, has lined up a marketing and print budget of around Rs 22 crore – the highest so far in Bollywood. In a trade characterised by surprises and dramatic reversals of fortune, financiers are keen to cash in while the sun shines on Salman.

Bodyguard, another of Khan’s trademark Eid releases, will open across 2,250 screens in 70 Indian cities and with 482 overseas prints. With such a huge release, the movie could score one of the biggest openings ever. After the huge success of Dabangg and Ready, which marked Salman’s stunning comeback, Bodyguard’s release will be closely tracked by the industry that banks as much on luck and hype as on glitz.

Eid has been lucky for Salman since the release of Wanted in 2009, followed by Dabangg a year later. Dabangg and Ready grossed Rs 190 crore and Rs 140 crore, respectively, at the box office.

“It’s the nature of the game. If a star like Salman or Aamir has a cachet, they go and encash it. It’s an all or nothing game to make that weekend happen. In such a case, frontloading everything on to marketing makes sense. And Salman has that ‘bit over the top’ quality as well as his special swagger. He is good at this comedy bordering on a farce, which is like a new genre of cinema,” says Santosh Desai, CEO, Future Brands.

Bodyguard – produced by Reel Life, owned by Salman’s brother-in-law Atul Agnihotri – was bought by Reliance Entertainment for a reported Rs 64 crore, which earned the ADAG firm co-producer status as well as an equal share in the IPR for perpetuity. Agnihotri reportedly sold the music rights to T-Series for 6 crore. Satellite rights have been sold to Star for Rs 27 crore for seven years.

“Salman may or may not have taken a fee, but the buzz is he charged about Rs 30 crore,” says an industry source.

Agnihotri built a makeshift bungalow in Film City for Salman, who spent many days there during the four-month shoot. Print and advertising costs (P&A, in trade parlance) have gone up substantially over the past few years. Today, P&A constitutes around 25-30% of the total budget. Other major films with big P&As were Ready ( 17-18 crore) and UTV’s Tees Maar Khan ( 15 crore).

The marketing blitzkrieg apart, Salman backers are also counting on the rising popularity of single screens as the star has a formidable fan base across these theatres. Bodyguard will be released in a 65:35 ratio in favour of single-screen theatres.

Refurbished single theatres and mushrooming multiplexes allowed producers and financiers to cast the net wide during the release of movies such as Dabangg, Kites, Ready and Raavan. Dabangg released on 1,800 screens in India while the other three were released on 1,500 screens.

Salman suffering from the Trigeminal Neuralgia

He is suffering from trigeminal neuralgia, a facial nerve disorder commonly known as the suicide disease. For the first time, he reveals that he is going through “the worst pain on the planet.”

“I am suffering from trigeminal neuralgia, a facial nerve problem I have had since the last seven years. But now, it’s getting worse. Ab dard hadd se paar ho gaya hai and I am going to kill it,” says the 45-year-old, who had to undergo an angiography (medical imaging technique used to visualise the body from within) last month.

“Yes I did get an angiography done about a month ago. But it was not for the heart — it was meant to detect this disease. Even though he’s been suffering since long, Khan has never let that hamper his professional commitments. He is busy promoting his forthcoming film, Bodyguard, in full swing. “I’m doing fine. It’s just that now, I had no choice but to pay attention to my health.”

Shift topic to his Eid release co-starring Kareena, and he says he is against social media promotions that actors generally indulge in, around the release of their films. “Principally, I don’t want to use Twitter for film promotion as I feel it is meant for fan connect. One tweet is enough to make them aware,” he says, taking an indirect dig at archrival Shah Rukh Khan, who tweets about his films frequently. And, how about Hollywood? “(No thanks) Mera yahiin bhala ho jaaye toh bahut hai!” He added that the only Bollywood actor who rocks in Hollywood is “Anil Kapoor as he is jhakaas.”

Salman does not agree with his image of being a Casanova or a true charmer as portrayed by his female co-stars or fans. “No one will say that he is a jerk or anything bad on your face, getting to know the real response as to what the other person thinks about you is a little difficult,” he says jokingly.

If he said then I’m sure he is not a liar. But as far as I know the truth is Ek Tha Tiger was offered to me and Yash Raj told me if I don’t do this film they will not make it. YRF is not the kind of producers who would say something and do something else. Also Chak De India was offered to me first.

'Andaz Apna Apna' without Aamir, Salman

The long awaited animated version of Raj Kumar Santoshi's 1994 hit comedy Andaz Apna Apna is finally happening this year. 

However, it has been learnt that in the cartoon film the characters Amar and Prem, originally essayed by Aamir Khan and Salman Khan respectively, won't look anything like them!

This decision was taken by iRock, the company helming the project. They are apparently worried and want to avoid any legal hassles they'd have to face in case the two superstars became the face of the cartoon film. 

Apparently, feelers were sent out to both the actors' offices and huge amounts of money were quoted for the 'privilege' of using their faces in the movie.

Says Sid Jain, CEO, iRock, "It's true we aren't making Aamir and Salman the faces of Amar and Prem. We really would've liked to since the identification level of the characters with the audience would've been substantially enhanced if we had the original faces. 

However, our legal department advised us against it. So regrettably we are keeping the spirit of the characters, but not their faces." 

Same to same
In every other detail, the cartoon version of AAA would be exactly like the original. Says Jain excitedly, "I've waited nine years to do this film. We wanted to make sure everything is just right before we started."

As for Aamir and Salman missing out on the animation glory, someone very close to AAA said, "A cartoon version of the film without Salman and Aamir's face is like an animation version of Attenborough's Gandhi without Ben Kingley's signature-face." We agree!
