Black marketing & ‘lathi’ charge returns with DABANGG!-The reason for sucess?

In the good old days of single screens, where movies used to run for weeks and weeks to be called a hit, another phenomenon that used to be witnessed was that of the ‘friendly neighbourhood’ cinema ticket black marketer! For those who are still not exactly getting it, watch Aamir Khan in RANGEELA (outside a cinema) to get an idea. Not only that, to control the crowds ‘lathi’ wielding policemen were called upon by the cinema owners.

Well, no need to get nostalgic because DABANGG has managed to bring back not only ‘masala’ to the centre stage but both the above mentioned phenomenas, especially in B & C centres!

We have confirmed reports from places like Allahabad, Aligarh, Moradabad, Muzaffarpur, Darbhanga and also Bhopal and parts of Rajasthan about black marketing of tickets and police resorting to mild caning, and this continued till as late as Wednesday with people even complaining to the police.

Here’s hoping that apart from the above and starting with DABANGG the coming films manage to bring even the high volume of returns that the 70s and 80s used to witness!
