Dabangg 2 Tuesday Box Office Collection 15.45 cr nett.

Dabangg 2 has collected around 15.45 crore nett all India on Tuesday at the box office. Actual may vary. Dabangg 2 total collectionafter five days is around 92.35 crore nett. That is fantastic. D2 got benefitted from Christmas Day Holiday on Tuesday and that showed in the collections. But night shows got hugely affected by the Cricket Match.

D2 showed a jump of 30% on average on Tuesday from Monday. Occupancy for the day was around 45-50% on average. Both multiplexes and single screens are performing well which is a good sign for the movie in long run.

D2 is having a rocking first week at the box office. It is collecting well whether it is Holiday or Non-Holiday. D2 1st Week Collection is now heading for around 100+ crore nett mark which is just outstanding in 7 days. Going by the trend D2 should collect well in its second weekend also.

Collection Breakup -

Fri - 21.1 cr nett.
Sat - 19.05 cr nett.
Sun - 24.75 cr nett.
Mon - 12 cr nett.
Tue - 15.45 cr nett.

Dabangg 2 Monday Box Office Collection. Record Breaking.

Dabangg 2 has collected around 12 crore nett all India on Monday at the box office. Thus it has broken Dabangg 2010 record of Highest non-holiday Monday. Highest previous Monday collections was ETT but it was on Eid Holiday. Thus Dabangg 2 total collection after four days is around 76.9 crore nett. Fantastic.

Dabangg 2 registered a drop of 45-50% on average from Sunday. But collections are praiseworthy as Sunday was huge. D2 is now heading for a huge first week at the box office. Tuesday being Christmas Holiday expect big collections all over India. D2 will near the 100 crore nett mark by Tuesday itself and may even touch it (Outside chance). D2 is rock steady at the box office which means it might do again well in the Second weekend also.

Collection Breakup -

Fri - 21.1 cr nett.
Sat - 19.05 cr nett.
Sun - 24.75 cr nett.
Mon - 12 cr nett.

Total - 76.9 cr nett.

Dabangg 2 Sunday Box Office Collection 24.75 cr nett.

Dabangg 2 has shown huge jump on Sundayfrom Saturday. Dabangg 2 has collected around 24.75 crore nett all India. D2 First Weekend Collection is coming around 64.8crore nett all India.

This is a new record surpassing Ek Tha Tiger First 3 day collection of 60.32 crore nett. D2 however failed to break the Biggest Single Day record of ETT of around 32.92 crore nett in its first three days. D2 has now officially created new box office record for Opening Weekend and hope few more are created in coming days.

D2 has registered a jump of 30-35% on Sunday from Saturday. Jump is around 15-20% from Friday also. This is awesome. Real test for D2 however will start from today that is Monday. It is the audience who determines film success. Star ensures big opening, but finally public word of mouth shows the trend at the box office. Hope few scenario will be clear after the Monday Box Office Collection report.

Collection Breakup -

Fri - 21.1 cr nett.
Sat - 19.05 cr nett.
Sun - 24.75 cr nett.

Total - 64.8 cr nett.

Dabangg 2 Saturday Box Office Collection 19.05 cr nett.

Dabangg 2 collections on Saturday at thebox office all India is around 19.05 crore nett. D2 collections on Saturday specially in mass dominated center is lower than on Friday. But multiplexes showed jump though only marginally across India. Occupancy forSaturday was around 55-60% on average

The mass dominated center such as UP, CI, CP, Rajasthan, East Punjab etc seen a drop of 20% on average. But Multiplex centers like Gurgaon showed jump of 10%. Mumbai was little lower on Saturday from Friday with a drop of 5-10%. Delhi was more or less same as First Day. Mysore showed a marginal jump of 5%. Kolkata and Rest of India showed similar collections on Saturday from Friday.

Collections are still huge despite little lower than first day. Although it is seen that in recent Salman films 2nd day collections are much lower than 1st day. So, right now it is too early to predict the trend and only after Sunday and Monday collections real trend of Dabangg 2 can be said. Anyways D2 total collection after two days is coming around 40.15 crore nett. Excellent.

Dabangg 2 First Day Box Office Collection 21.1 cr nett.

Dabangg 2 has collected around 21.1 crore nett all India on its Opening Day (Friday) at the box office. Collections are huge considering normal working day. Single Screen business was excellent, whereas multiplex was little lower, because of working day. Anyways D2 has re-written the Non-Holiday Opening Record which was earlier owned by Rowdy Rathore.

D2 registered an occupancy of 70-75%+ in single screens, whereas occupancy in multiplexes was around 50-55%+. Overall occupancy was around 60-65% on average for the day. D2 got also affected in Morning and Night time in Northern Belt of India because of the cold wave. Occupancy was excellent in Noon and Evening shows specially. Night shows collections registered drop, but still good.

Overall it is great start and Saturday and Sunday collections are going to be huge. Whether it can show jump on weekend or not it is to be seen, as Friday is huge already.

'Dabangg 2' Movie Review by Adda Today

“Swagat nahi karoge hamara!” Chubul Pandey asks. My answer “Kyun nahi pandey ji agar aap aise hi entertain karte rahoge toh har baar swagat karenge.”Chulbul Pandey is a darling of aam janta. His fearless attitude which every man on this earth would love to have gives him a certain Demigod status among the masses.

Back in 2010 Chulbul Pandey made Dabangg an all time blockbuster. All those who think the movie worked because of the direction are those who probably don’t want to accept the truth that Dabangg worked completely because of Chulbul Pandey and his histrionics. And of course the chart buster music. Nobody except Chulbul Pandey could have saved that movie and nobody other than the current box office king Salman Khan could have played the role of the invincible cop with perfection as Salman did. The super success of Dabangg brings us to its sequel Dabangg 2. With the never seen before craze Dabangg 2 hit the theatres today but with a twist – a new director, Arbaaz Khan.

Dabangg 2 is an extension to its prequel. Chulbul Pandey gets a transfer to Kanpur from Lal ganj and is on the mission to remove the dirt of the city. Bachha Yadav is his new enemy this time who rules Kanpur and has instilled fear in the citizens of the city. Just like its prequel Dabangg 2 is about how Pandey ji triumphs over the evil.

Nothing new? Of course not! Disappointed? Of course not! Why should we get disappointed as far as we have Pandey ji to entertain us. The subtle humour, the subtle post marriage romance between Chulbul Pandey and his wife Rajjo, outstanding songs, amazing picturization of all the songs, Kareena’s item number ‘fevicol se’, well choreographed action sequences and above all the feel good factor of the good winning over the evil are enough points to get entertained and that too in a grand way. Is it a perfect film? Of course not! The plot is old and you wish that the makers would have put some twists and turns. The humour is not extraordinary. You won’t fall off your seats laughing. Screenplay is predictable. But in a Salman Khan movie these deterrents are over shadowed quite comfortably due to his charismatic screen presence. The first half is a complete joy ride while in the second half the movie shifts its gear and has few very well directed and well performed emotional sequences as well. In short in the entire movie there is no scope for any loo break.

As Chulbul Pandey, Salman Khan has exceeded all expectations and has played the part even better than its prequel. He is at such ease with this character and plays it with so much flamboyance and charm that you just don’t want his histrionics to get over. It won’t be an overstatement if I say Salman Khan is the heart and soul of Dabangg 2. Sonakshi Sinha looks beautiful as Rajjo. Whenever she is on the screen romancing chulbul automatically you have a smile on your face. Vinod Khanna is efficient. Arbaaz is decent. Prakash Raj is good but he doesn’t have an impactful role as he had in ‘Singham’ and ‘Wanted’. Arbaaz could have used him in a much better way.

There were lot of speculations in the trade about Arbaaz being the captain of the ship this time. Many people wrote him off even before the release of the movie. Well as I said Dabangg series is not a direction or content oriented series. It is a character driven series. Of course good direction is required to a certain extent and Arbaaz has comfortably filled the space Abhinav Kashyap (director of Dabangg) left. But it is to be seen how Arbaaz directs the movies where content and direction will be of prime importance. In Dabangg 2, Salman Khan and music made his work pretty easy.

Music by Sajid-wajid is simply superb and the treatment of the songs on the big screen enhances the movie viewing experience many times. On the basis of music ‘Dagabaaz re’, ‘fevicol se’ and‘Dabangg reloaded’ are my favourites but when I talk about the picturization each and every song has been shot exquisitely. Kareena Kapoor is looking gorgeous as ever in ‘fevicol se’. Malaika Arora Khan lits up the screen with her presence in ‘pandey jee seeti’. Choreography is simply brilliant.

Cinema is not about how much brain you use in the cinema hall, it’s about how much entertainment you get once you are in the theatre. For people who want to use their brains may skip Dabangg 2 and attend a Chartered Accountancy lecture and for all those who just want to have a gala time with their family and friends may buy the tickets immediately because you might not get them otherwise.

Salman Khan fans will go MAD! Lovers of masala movies will enjoy! Also, all those who liked Dabangg will not get out of the theatres disappointed in Dabangg 2.

Dabangg ho! Go for it in a single screen!

3.5 stars I cut .5 for the wafer thin and old plot.

'Dabangg 2' Movie Review : Salman does it again

Reviewed by Neha Gupta
Salman Khan always lives up to his fans expectations, and this time he is back with his super hit character Chulbul Pandey. Even though sequels of good movies turn out to be not-so-good, Dabangg 2 had a unique buzz right from the time when it was announced. Directed by debutante Arbaaz Khan, Dabangg 2 also stars Sonakshi Sinha and Prakash Raj in other lead roles. After some huge and unique promotions, Dabangg 2 has finally released. Let’s see how it is.
Story:
Chulbul Pandey(Salman Khan) is transferred to Kanpur, where he lives with his wife, Rajjo(Sonakshi Sinha) father, Prajapati Pandey(Vinod Khanna) and brother Makkhi(Arbaaz khan). Chulbul being a fearless police officer that he is, solves a kidnapping case and messeswith Baccha Bhaiya’s(Prakash Raj) who is a politician with an immoral attitude. Chulbul fights his gang with his fearless attitude which leaves Baccha Bhaiya gnashing his teeth. He in turn takes revenge by harming Chulbul’s unborn child. The rest of the story is how Chulbul retaliates to Baccha’s crimes and comes out victorious.
Plus Points:
Salman Khan is his usual self, keeps the crowd yelling and cheering, scene after scene. His humor and romance is tremendous, but what make the viewers stuck to their seats are his action sequences. He looks dashing in the desi action and yes! Salman khan goes shirtless in one of the scenes. Sonakshi Sinha looks more appealing and beautiful. Unlike the first part, Vinod Khanna shares an affectionate relation with his son and depicts more comedy and humor this time. Acclaimed actor, Prakash Raj plays a villain of the decade with his overwhelming performance.
Minus Points:
Busy with his direction, Arbaaz Khan isn’t seen in a lot of scenes. Not that we have much to say about the minus points, but the movie has a few similarities to the first part which could have been a bit different. The second half of the movie contains a little less humor and more action. Being an out-an-out entertainer, the movie could have been more elongated. Apart from these few points, the film couldn’t have been better.
Technical Aspects:
With some new and some old one-liners the dialogues of the movie are just superb as the first part. Music is peppy and numbers like ‘Fevicol Se’ and ‘Pandeyji Seti’, definitely urges the audiences to leave their seats and shake their foot. Also the slow numbers including ‘Dagabaaz Re’ and ‘Saason Ne’ are well sung and also shot nicely. Even though Malaiaka makes a come back for a few seconds in the song, ‘Pandeyji Seti’, Kareena steals the charm with her amazing dancing and pleasing looks. Action sequences have been shot very well and Salman Khan is in his peaks while doing it. Screenplay of the movie is decent and so is the editing.
Verdict:
On the whole, Dabangg 2 is all in all amalgamation of being a perfect family entertainer and one of Salman’s best performances. He once again proves his worth and Dabangg2 is set to create new records at the box-office. A decent and entertaining family outing, Dabangg 2 has everything from music, masti, dance, and romance going its way. Don’t miss it.

Only the audience has the right to decide the fate of a film

He’s ready for another date with his audience and this film is even bigger than his previous one. But regardless of the wagers on Dabangg 2, Salman Khan says this sequel will be another ‘family picnic’, bigger, better and much more fun. Here’s the actor in conversation with Vajir Singh
Is Dabangg 2 a Christmas celebration or a birthday treat for your audience?
If the movie does well, you can either call it a Christmas celebration or a birthday treat. If the audience doesn’t enjoy the product, it will be neither. But I think we have managed to make an entertaining film, judging by the reactions we’re getting and the reception to the trailer of the film. If the response is better than it was to Dabangg, I think picture achi bani hai, mehnat ki hai sabne. Emotionally, in principle and ethically, the film is correct. It is larger than the earlier one, happier than the earlier one.
We’ve not tried to make Chulbul Pandey a superhero; he is still Chulbul Pandey. He has not become a caricature. We have made the sequel keeping all these factors in mind. Dabangg 2 is not similar to the first one, yet it’s not out-of-the-world. We have made this film keeping in mind the audience’ expectations. Dabangg was based in a small town, Lal Ganj, whileDabangg 2 is located in Kanpur city. In short, Dabangg 2 is bigger than Dabangg. Action aacha hai, gaane aache hai, humour aacha hai, emotions hai, har cheez hai.
When the trailer of Dabangg released, it was declared a blockbuster. Now, when the trailer ofDabangg 2 has released, it is being declared a double blockbuster? Do you think expectations are very high?
When there’s a perception around a film, it is usually correct. Most of this film lives up to the expectations its trailer has created. But there are times when you wonder, ‘Yeh kya ho gaya?’ So, let the audience decide on December 21. The audience will decide if Dabangg 2 earns ` 100 crore or ` 200 crore or ` 300 crore or a mere ` 50 crore.
According to tradewallahs, Dabangg 2 is poised to cross 200 crore. Does it add to the pressure?
Jab koi sign karne ko aata hai na toh he says, sir 300 crore… arey pehle hafte mein aaram se. This is the state of our filmmakers and tradewallahs. So don’t go by what the industry says. The industry had written off Dabangg but now they are positive about the sequel. Only the audience has the right to decide the fate of a film as they pay to watch the movie.
It is said that the first trailer of a film decides the fate of the film. If the first look/trailer clicks, half the battle is won…
(Cuts in) There are trailers that give you the feeling that there isn’t much more to the movie. So nobody watches these films. On the other hand, there are some trailers that promise that the film will offer much more. But this is not decided by us, not even the person who cuts the trailer. This is decided by the audience. They sniff the product from the trailer and make an instant decision to watch it or skip it. The trailer should generate curiosity or else, the audience will prefer to buy the DVD.
There’s a belief that the audience comes to watch Salman Khan, not the content.
Na na. It’s the whole package. Salman Khan ne bahut badi badi bhi di hai in the past. The audience goes to the cinema to be entertained, not to listen to speeches. If the audience feels they can go in a group or with their families, they will watch the movie. For a family or a group, watching a film is like a picnic.
Today, people are talking about Salman Khan delivering hits one after another. You delivered a string of consecutive hits in the beginning of your career as well…
(Cuts in) Till Love (1991) was released. I was often asked how I managed to handle success. They also say that mera dimaag kharab ho gaya hai. But agar mera dimaag kharab hone wala hota na toh mera dimaag Maine Pyaar Kiye ke time pe hi kharab ho chuka hota. I was 21 years old, and I had a film that had broken my father’s movie record. Hum Aapke Hain Koun..! broke every record and created new benchmarks. Then there was Sanam Bewafa, Karan Arjun, Baaghi, Kurbaan till LoveLove was a good film but it didn’t do well.
After that, Suryavanshi, Chaand Kaa Tukdaa, Chandra Mukhi, Nishchaiy also bombed. These films did not do well for a reason. I wanted to buy a house and so I did these movies. I was not offered good movies so I accepted whatever came my way. I knew they were average in content but picked the best among them. I thought if we work very hard on these movies, they will do well but that didn’t happen.
For example, Nishchaiy had Vinod Khanna in the film and Jaagruti was produced by a very famous action director. I thought Love was a good film and it would perform well. But none of them did. It was all right for me to do those films at the time. I knew that I had Karan ArjunHum Aapke Hain Koun..! and Andaz Apna Apna lined up.
Andaz Apna Apna is called a ‘cult’ film.
Chali nahi toh kya faida hai cult film ka. Theatre mein nahi chali producer ka pack up ho gaya. He was not able to make a film after that. Even Hello Brother is watched on DVD as many times as Andaz Apna Apna.Toh kya faida hua? There was no faida at all. It was a complete disaster.
Since you’ve become choosy about the films you do, you’re doing one film at a time.
No. Why? I did Wanted and Veer together. Towards the end of Veer, when Wanted went on for a longer time, I had started growing my hair for Veer. So the last two to three songs of Wanted were shot with long hair. But now I have stopped doing that because I take a break for a month and a half or two months between films. Or else saala break milta nahi hai.
Yeh Dabangg 2 aur Sohail (Khan) ki picture ke andar ek mahine ka break mil gaya hai. Warna the earlier filmsEk Tha Tiger and Dabangg were overlapping. I shot the climax of Dabangg 2 and then shot the climax of Ek Tha Tiger.
And you’re also establishing a rapport with the media…
(Cuts in) If you say, I will stop talking to the media. My thing is mazaak mat udao. Show or write what is correct and not what you think is correct. Don’t interpret according to your convenience. Earlier, I used to wonder why the media did such-and-such thing, why were they misquoting me?
Don’t take ghatiya meaning out of what I am saying. Now I also have the freedom of Facebook and Twitter. The numbers of followers I have is more than the circulation of any big newspaper.
So whenever I have to convey something, I tweet. I don’t tweet with the intention that the media will pick it up. My intention is to convey what I want to say to my fans.
On a public platform like Twitter, people use cuss words as well. Have you experienced that?
Haan. Aur kuch log mujhe pata bhi hai yeh aate hi hai uksane ke liye. Curtain ke peeche hai toh kuch bhi bol sakte hai, saamne aake bolo yaar toh maza aaye, peeche se kya hai. There are some journalists following me, so I read their tweets but don’t react to them. Kabhie Kabhie difficult bhi ho jata hai. But it does not matter to me at all.
There was talk of you getting into production and backing Mahesh Manjrekar’s film Shikshanachya Aaicha Gho?
I think Shikshanachya Aaicha Gho is a very positive film. It is an out-and-out commercial film. I would love to produce a film like that but I don’t see myself doing that film. What would I do in that film? I would play the father’s role but now is not the time.
When will we see you turning producer?
I will produce films. Under the Being Human banner, we have already started doing production but are not getting the right kind of scripts. Salman Khan Productions will start soon.
Under Being Human Productions, you will make a different kind of cinema?
Different kind of cinema matlab ke Chillar Party where happy films, not art films, jo chalti hai.
There is a lot of curiosity about your next film.
My next will be directed by Sohail. Abhi uska kuch detail nahi hai. Title bhi finalise nahi hua hai. Script wagerah sab ready hai and we will start it in January. I have signed Sajid Nadiadwala’s Kick, then there’sNo Entry’s sequel which we are still working on. Ramesh Taurani’s film is also underway.
Aren’t you also doing Sooraj Barjatya’s next?
He is still working on the script. If he finishes his script, toh phir baaki sab sideline ho jayengi.
