So, we are ready with sequel of Dabangg. Chulbul Pandey is back and he is more ferocious and shrewd this time. Dabangg is a classic and swept all awards in 2010 as far as music is concerned. So, automatically Dabangg 2 expectation becomes sky high. Plus it is brand Salman Khan, music composed by Saijd-Wajid. Will it can stand on its huge expectations. Let's start themusic review of D2 with great elan.
Film - Dabangg 2
Music - Sajid-Wajid
Lyrics - Sameer, Jalees Sherwani, Ashraf Ali and Irfan Kamal
1. Dagabaaz Re - Sung by Rahat Fateh Ali Khan and Shreya. Dagabaaz Re starts the album with a bang. If Dabangg had Tere Mast Mast Nain, D2 answer is Dagabaaz Re. Dagabaaz Re is already out and ruling the charts. Melodious number, full on romance. Sensational singing by Rahat and Shreya. Diction is exceptional when words like Dagabaaz or Praan Re is used. Hats off to Rahat. Shreya complements him well and makes her own presence felt. Shreya is sweet. If Lata ji was nightangle of India, Shreya is of today. Classic. Will be liked by both romantic and unromantic at heart.
2. Pandeyjee Seeti - Sung by Wajid, Mamta Sharma and Shreya. Thumping track. Paying homage to 'Chalat Musafir Moh Liya Re Pinjare Wali Muniya' and 'UP Waala Thumka Lagaoon'.Again if someone has to compare with Dabangg, if prequel had 'Humka Peeni Hai', D2 has Pandeyjee Seeti. Music is outstanding. Lyrics is based on Chulbul Pandey character and filled with mischieviousness and naughtiness. Wajid is excellent. Mamta and Shreya first rated with their singing. Expect mass hysteria in Theaters when song will be played. Anything more to be said?
3. Fevicol Se - Sung by Mamta Sharma and Wajid. Perfect sequel to Munni Badnam Hui. Kareena Kapoor will give her special appearance in the song and rest assured that this will be her best item number till date. Mamta is in full form and she is not laid back even once. How sweet when she sings words like 'Gadar, Fevicol, Miss Call, Alcohol'. Wajid complements her well. But song belongs to Mamta. Expect carnage in UP and Bihar belt. 'Tandoori Murgi' word will be a Natinal Anthem. I was expecting whether Dabangg standard can be maintained or not in the second showing and Wajid is replying back with 100% gratification. Just thinking what will happen in theaters when the song will come. If you like thumkas of UP wala, this is for you.
4. Saanson Ne - Sung by Sonu Nigam and Tulsi Kumar. If you just been thinking of taking a sabatical after first 3 songs, then Sajid-Wajid has something else for you. It is guaranteed that those who are romantic to the core and like 90's melodious songs, this track is made for you. Yes this the the 4th track of the album and it is the best of all. Sonu is mindblowing and if good songs are provided to him, he can show us his voice power and singing style. Yes he is inspired from Rafi and yes who else can boast of that. Tulsi complements him very well and sounds really melodious. Outstanding classic track. Listen it once and we guarantee that you will listen it again.
5. Dabangg Reloaded - Sung by Sukhwinder. Dabangg Reloaded is in a way Hud Hud Dabangg remix version. Sukhwinder roars in Hud Hud Dabangg and it went to become a nation rage and this time also he is roaring again and hope same affect happens this time also. Although it is the remix version of Hud Hud, still it has some different tunes in places. It kepts its own. Lyrics is good. Good part is that Sajid-Wajid has paid tribute to the prequel and they are not denying the fact. Must Listen.
Picks - Saanson Ne, Fevicol Se, Pandeyjee Seeti, Dagabaaz Re. Even Dabangg Reloaded is good.
Minuses - Nothing.
Verdict - 4.5/5. Dabangg 2 delivers what its promised. Those who complain about missing the 90's flavour, this album is for you. Those who complain about degrading of music, this album is for you. We are still used to Dabangg music in our minds and D2 is just the next chapter of Dabangg. Forget Box Office magic of Dabangg 2. Forget about mass hysteria this Christmas is going to happen. Dagabaaz Re and Saanson Ne will take care of Classes. Pandeyjee Seeti and Fevical Se will take care of Masses. This album is for all be it from Assam to Gujarat and Kashmir to Kanyakumari. Still waiting for anything else. Go and listen to beautiful music of Bollywood that we are used to. Yes it is one of the best album of the year, if not the best.
