Ready Movie Review III

By Naveed
Salman Khan returns with Anees Bazmee after there super successful and super entertaining NO ENTRY. The film is a remake of by the same name in Telegu which was a huge blockbuster.
Prem (Salman Khan) lives with his father and two uncles and falls in love with Sanjana (Asin). Her two mamas are mafia dons and want her to marry there respective brother in laws so they can claim her inheritance. Prem goes about teaching the two mamas a lesson and winning over his love with the help of his family.
The film is an out and out Salman film. He is the soul of the film and exudes such charm and charisma that very few others can match. Asin complements him well and the comfort level they share is very evident on screen.
POSITIVES
1) The film does exactly what it set out to do. Provide wholesome entertainment. Its a clean family entertainer with no vulgarity or double meaning jokes.
2) The songs really lift the film and thankfully each song is perfectly placed especially Meri Ada Bhi.
3) The film doesn’t drag considering its a 2 hour 20 min film.
4) The second half and the climax especially are really well shot and Salman taking of his shirt is one highlight of the film. The way Asin reacts to that is also very cute. He is looking very good far better than he did in Dabangg.
5) The action scenes are very well executed. The one at the end and the one in the jungle.
6) The original Dhinka Chika video is shown at the end and is a nice surprise.
NEGATIVES
1) The first one hour (excluding Character Dheela and the register marriage scene) really drags and infact tests the patience of the viewer. Ready is a prime example of a film of two halves. The first one very slow and unfunny and the second smooth and full of hilarious situations.
2) Some scenes just didn’t make sense (well to me anyway). The scene where Asin is imagining Salman in the bedroom and where he threatens to kill her if she doesn’t leave the house is poorly done.
3) Some dialogues look forced and theen cheez kabhi underestimate mat karna didn’t really help. Infact the one dialogue that stayed in my mind was koi to roke. It will be another ‘kamal karte ho’ and ‘ek baar maine commitment kardi’ Its repeated many times and am sure will catch on with the public.
PERFORMANCES
Three performances tower above anyone else in the film.
1) Salman Khan – he performs his part effortlessly and looks very dashing throughout the film. Like I said earlier he is the soul of the film and keeps things flowing.
2) Paresh Rawal – enters directly after the interval and leaves his mark on the film BIG TIME. He has done many other roles like this before and this is no different. The guy is a class act and complements Salman in the film very well.
3) Sudesh Lehri – Almost each scene he is involved in he makes one smile or laugh. He has some of the best lines and does a fine job. The scene where the Chaudhrys (mafia goons) are in hospital and he tries to explain what happened to there son is very funny.
The little kid (grand son of the Chaudrhys also does a fine job). The part where Salman teaches him a lesson in the theme park will really make one smile.
Asin and the rest of the cast also do a good job.
In a nutshell its a film of two halves. When the film reaches the interval break one is feeling disappointed but by the time the film ends one has a smile on there face and the climax really contributes towards that.
